Goals FAQ
Frequently asked questions about goal tracking, sharing, and data handling in NivoaFlow.
Common Questions About Goals
Are goals available on the Free plan?
Yes — goal tracking and progress are included on all tiers, including Free. There's no limit on the number of active goals.
Can one goal track multiple accounts?
Not directly — each account-linked goal points to a single chequing, savings, or line-of-credit account. If you want to track savings across multiple accounts, you have two options:
- Create separate goals for each account, or
- Switch the goal to Save up manually and log contributions yourself with the Add Funds button — those contributions can come from any account or source
Can I share goals in a household?
Yes. If you're on a Household plan, goals can be visible to all household members. Shared goals appear on everyone's goals page, and contributions from any member count toward progress.
This is useful for shared savings targets like a family vacation or a joint emergency fund.
What happens to my goals if I downgrade my plan?
Your goals are preserved regardless of your plan tier. Because goal tracking is a Free feature, downgrading from Personal or Household to Free keeps everything intact:
- Goals remain in your account with all history
- Account-linked goals keep tracking automatically
- You can still add manual contributions
- No data is lost
See plan comparison for details.
Can I have multiple goals at the same time?
Yes, there's no limit to the number of active goals. Create as many as you need — emergency fund, vacation, new car, home down payment, and more.
How do I delete a goal?
Open the Plan > Goals page, click the kebab menu (three vertical dots) on the goal, and choose Delete. A confirmation dialog warns you that the goal and its contribution history will be permanently removed and the action can't be undone. Transactions linked to the goal are not deleted — they remain in your transaction list.
If you'd rather keep the history, choose Mark Achieved or Pause instead.
Can I change a goal's target amount after creating it?
Yes. Click the kebab menu and choose Edit, or edit the goal from its detail view. Your progress percentage recalculates automatically based on the new target.
Do goals affect my budget?
Goals don't count as budget categories. They run alongside your budget — your transactions still flow into your envelopes, and the goal tracks the relevant account balance or your manual contributions separately.
Can I set a goal without a target date?
Yes. The target date is optional. Goals without a target date track progress indefinitely — useful for open-ended savings like an emergency fund where you may not have a specific deadline.
