Managing Recurring Transactions

Add, edit, and organize your recurring bills and subscriptions

Last updated May 2, 2026

How Items Get Added

The Recurring page is split into three groups: Bills, Subscriptions, and Income. Items get there in two ways:

  • NivoaFlow auto-detects recurring patterns from your transaction history. Detected patterns sit in the list waiting for you to Confirm, Edit, or Dismiss.
  • You add them manually by tapping Add Item.

When you visit the Recurring page for the first time, an info banner walks you through these basics — you can dismiss it once you are familiar with the layout.

Adding an Item Manually

  1. Go to Recurring from the main navigation
  2. Tap Add Item
  3. Pick the pattern type: Bill (utilities, rent, insurance), Subscription (Netflix, software), or Income (paycheque, freelance deposits)
  4. Enter the merchant name, expected amount, and start date
  5. Choose a cadence and set the status

Setting the Cadence

Choose how often the transaction occurs:

  • Weekly — Every 7 days
  • Biweekly — Every 14 days
  • Monthly — Same date each month
  • Quarterly — Every 3 months
  • Yearly — Once per year
  • Custom — Any other consistent interval

Subscription Status

Subscriptions track where each one stands:

  • Active — Currently being charged regularly
  • Paused — Temporarily suspended (e.g., a seasonal subscription)
  • Cancelled — No longer active, kept for historical reference
  • Trial — Free trial period, with an end date tracked so you know when charges begin

NivoaFlow also flags patterns automatically as possibly cancelled or cancelled when expected charges stop arriving — see how recurring detection works.

Editing Recurring Items

When a subscription price changes or you switch to a different billing cycle, update it:

  1. Open the recurring item
  2. Tap Edit
  3. Adjust the amount, cadence, or status
  4. Save your changes

The updated details will be reflected in your bill calendar and cash flow forecasts.

Deleting a Recurring Item

If you no longer want to track a recurring pattern:

  1. Open the recurring item
  2. Tap Delete
  3. Confirm the removal

Deleting an item removes it from future forecasts but does not affect your past transaction history.

Tips for Staying Organised

  • Review monthly — Check your recurring list at the start of each month to catch any subscriptions you have forgotten about
  • Use status tracking — Mark cancelled subscriptions so you have a record of what you have cut
  • Watch for trials — Set trial end dates so you are reminded before charges begin. See price change alerts to catch unexpected increases.
