How to Pause a Goal

Take a Break Without Losing Progress

Sometimes you need to put a goal on hold — maybe you're focusing on a different priority, dealing with an unexpected expense, or simply taking a breather. NivoaFlow has a built-in pause feature that excludes the goal from projections and stops it from showing as "behind" without losing any of your saved progress.

How to Pause a Goal

1. Go to Plan > Goals
2. Click the kebab menu (three vertical dots) on the goal you want to pause
3. Choose Pause
4. Pick how long to pause for:
   • 1 month
   • 3 months
   • Until I resume (no end date)
5. Click Pause Goal

The goal moves to the Paused tab and shows a "Paused" badge. After the chosen duration ends, an automatic resume kicks in (for the timed options). If you chose "Until I resume," the goal stays paused until you take action.

What Happens While Paused

• Progress is frozen at the amount recorded when you paused — for account-linked goals, the displayed balance won't update
• The goal is excluded from projections and won't be flagged as "off track" or "needs a boost"
• History is preserved — all past contributions and changes remain
• The goal moves to the Paused tab but is never hidden or deleted

Resuming a Paused Goal

To bring a goal back early (or any time after the pause expires):

1. Switch to the Paused tab on the Goals page
2. Click the kebab menu on the goal
3. Choose Resume

The goal moves back to the Active tab. For account-linked goals, progress immediately recalculates based on the current account balance — any changes that happened while the goal was paused are reflected.

Tips

• Pause rather than delete — deleting a goal permanently removes its history
• Use the Until I resume option when you don't know how long the break will last
• Review paused goals monthly to decide whether to resume, adjust, or mark them achieved
• Consider editing the target date when resuming after a long pause — the original timeline may no longer be realistic
