Net Worth Tracking

Track your total assets minus liabilities over time

Last updated May 2, 2026

What Is Net Worth?

Your net worth is a simple formula:

Assets - Liabilities = Net Worth

  • Assets include chequing accounts, savings accounts, investments, TFSAs, RRSPs, property values, and anything else you own
  • Liabilities include credit card balances, lines of credit, mortgages, student loans, and any other debts

Available on all tiers. The net worth view lives on the Reports page under the Net Worth tab.

Before You Start

If you haven't added any accounts yet, NivoaFlow shows an "Add an account to track net worth" empty state with a button that takes you to the Accounts page. Connect at least one account (or add one manually) to populate the chart.

The Net Worth View

Current Net Worth

Your total net worth is shown at the top alongside:

  • The current value
  • Change over the selected timeframe (in dollars and as a percentage)
  • A trend arrow indicating the direction

History Chart

The history chart plots your net worth over time. Switch the timeframe with the range selector:

  • 3 months — recent trends
  • 6 months — medium-term trajectory
  • 1 year — annual overview
  • All time — your complete history in NivoaFlow

Account Breakdown

Below the chart, an account breakdown shows which accounts contribute most to your net worth. Each row lists the account's balance and its share of your total assets or liabilities, helping you understand your financial composition.

Keeping It Accurate

For the most accurate net worth tracking:

  • Link your accounts — Connected accounts update automatically with current balances
  • Add manual accounts — For assets not linked (like property or vehicles), add them as manual accounts and update periodically
  • Update liabilities — Keep loan balances current, especially for mortgages and lines of credit

Why Track Net Worth?

Individual transactions and monthly budgets tell you about the short term. Net worth tells you about the big picture — whether you're building wealth or losing ground over time. Watching your net worth trend upward is one of the most motivating indicators of financial progress. For debt reduction specifically, see the debt payoff planner.
