Review Queue and Approvals
Assign transactions to household members for review and resolve them together
What the Review Queue Is
The household review queue is a way to flag a transaction for another household member to look at — for example, "is this charge yours?", "should we split this?", or "what category does this belong to?". Any adult household member who can edit shared data can both assign a review and resolve one assigned to them.
It is not an automatic gate or admin approval workflow — transactions still post normally. The review queue is a collaborative inbox layered on top.
Where to Find It
Open the household sidebar and select Review Queue. The page shows pending reviews and resolved reviews on toggle.
Assigning a Transaction for Review
- Open Review Queue
- Select + Review in the top-right
- Pick a shared account from your household, then pick a transaction from the list
- Choose the household member to assign it to
- Optionally add a note (for example, "is this yours?" or "should this be a transfer?")
- Select Assign
The assignee gets a notification (if Review assignments is enabled in their notification preferences) and the review appears in their pending list.
Resolving a Review
When something is assigned to you:
- Open Review Queue and find the pending item
- Read the original assignment note and the transaction details
- Optionally add a resolution note (for example, "yes, that's mine" or "I changed the category")
- Select Resolve
Resolved reviews stay visible under the Resolved filter for reference.
Comments and Discussion
Each review supports a thread of comments, so you can have a back-and-forth without leaving the queue. Comments are part of the household activity feed and visible to everyone in the household with access.
Notification Preferences
Two relevant household notification toggles control review traffic:
- Approval requests — alerts when an action needs your approval
- Review assignments — alerts when a transaction has been assigned to you for review
Manage these from Notification Preferences in the household sidebar. See Managing Notification Preferences for the full list.
Best Practices
- Use it for "is this yours" moments — quick clarifications keep the household ledger clean without long DMs
- Add a clear note — a one-line note saves the assignee a guessing game
- Resolve promptly — leaving items pending erodes trust in the queue. All review actions also surface in the household activity feed for transparency.
