Sharing Accounts with Your Household

Choose which accounts your household can see, and at what access level

Per-Account Sharing Control

You choose exactly which accounts to share with your household. Share your joint chequing account while keeping your personal savings private — it is entirely up to you.

How to Share an Account

  1. Go to Settings > Household
  2. In the Shared Accounts section, select Share Account
  3. Pick the account you want to share
  4. Choose the access level for the household:
    • View only — household members can see balances and transactions but cannot edit
    • Can edit — members with edit permissions can also categorise, split, and add transactions
  5. Confirm

The account and its transactions become visible to the rest of the household based on each member's role — Viewers always see read-only regardless of the share's access level.

Per-Member Visibility

Each shared account also has per-member visibility toggles. Expand the share entry to choose which household members can actually see it. This is useful when a couple shares with the household but does not want a parent (Viewer) to see one specific account.

How to Stop Sharing

  1. Go to Settings > Household
  2. Find the shared account in the Shared Accounts list
  3. Select Unshare
  4. Confirm

The account immediately becomes private again. Other members can no longer see its balance or transactions, and any household reports recalculate without it.

What Gets Shared

When you share an account, household members can see:

  • Account name and type
  • Current balance
  • Transaction history for that account
  • The account's contribution to household-level reports and net worth

What Stays Private

Even when sharing accounts, some information stays private:

  • Accounts you choose not to share are completely invisible to others
  • Your personal settings and preferences are never shared
  • Other linked institutions you have not shared remain hidden

Ownership Tags

Once an account is shared, the household can apply ownership tags (Mine, Theirs, Ours) to its transactions, either manually or automatically through ownership rules. See shared goals and ownership rules for the full flow.

Shared Accounts in Reports

Shared accounts contribute to household-level reports and dashboards. Members can see combined spending, net worth, and budget progress across all shared accounts. Track changes with the household activity feed.
