Spending Reports
Analyse your money with the six-tab Reports page — net worth, spending, cash flow, trends, merchants, and a daily heatmap.
Overview
The Reports page is NivoaFlow's analytics hub. It gives you a clear picture of where your money goes, how your wealth is changing, and which patterns are worth paying attention to. The first time you visit, an explainer banner walks you through the available views — you can dismiss it any time.
Reports are available on all tiers. The Personal plan unlocks deeper saved-report and pin-to-dashboard workflows.
The Six Tabs
The Reports page is organised into six tabs. Each tab keeps its own filter state, so flipping between them doesn't reset your range or account selection.
Net Worth
Track total assets minus liabilities over time, with a history chart and account breakdown. See net worth tracking for details.
Spending
A pie chart and table of your spending by category, with an income vs. expense summary up top. Quickly identify your biggest expense areas — housing, groceries, entertainment, transportation — and how they compare.
Cash Flow
A bar chart showing income vs. expenses by month. Lets you see whether you're consistently spending more than you earn or building savings over time.
Trends
Plot how spending in specific categories changes over time. Useful for spotting creeping grocery costs, gauging your entertainment budget, or watching seasonal expenses rise and fall.
Merchants
A ranked list of merchants by total spending. Helpful for identifying subscriptions, recurring charges, or habits you might want to reconsider.
Heatmap
A calendar-style heatmap that highlights which days you spent the most. Click any cell to drill into the transactions for that day.
Filtering Reports
Each tab has its own filter bar with:
- Date range — preset windows (1M, 3M, 6M, 1Y) or a custom since/until
- Account — a single account or all accounts
- Category — drill into a specific category (where the tab supports it)
Filter changes are scoped to the active tab so you don't lose context when you switch views.
Saved Reports
If you find a configuration you'd like to revisit (a particular range + account + category combo), click Save. Saved reports appear in a dropdown at the top of the page so you can re-open them with one click. You can rename or delete saved reports from the same dropdown.
Pinning Reports to Your Dashboard
On any tab, click the Pin icon to add the current chart to your custom dashboard. The pinned widget keeps the filters you set when you pinned it, and refreshes when its underlying data changes. See custom dashboard widgets for layout tips. Pinning to a custom dashboard requires the Personal plan.
Using Reports Effectively
- Monthly review — open the Spending and Cash Flow tabs at month end to see if you stayed within your budget
- Quarterly comparison — extend the range to 3M to spot seasonal patterns
- Pre-budget planning — use Trends to set realistic envelope amounts for the coming month
- Subscription audit — sort the Merchants tab to find recurring charges you may have forgotten about. See managing recurring transactions for more
- Day-level drill-down — use the Heatmap to investigate unusually heavy spending days
Exporting
Reports are designed for on-screen analysis. For a full data export of your transactions, see exporting your data.
